Snow Day Ruled!!

Yesterday we FINALLY had some snow, so by the afternoon we were ready to rock and roll...I took Chase out by himself the first time around...Addy was in desperate need of a nap! Anyway, I was blown away by how much fun both of them had playing in the snow...this was the first year that they both "got it"

We had so much fun...and we played for hours! Chase was a trooper and even pulled his sled back up the hills to go down again. Addy hated her "baby sled" and preferred to ride down on brother's back for a faster ride...seriously.

Here is a little slide-show I put together of our adventures:

PS: Thanks for the slide show program Meredith...I copied your idea from a while ago! :o)

DOOMED I tell you!

EDITED TO ADD: OMG...I tried so many times to upload this video directly from blogger...I guess the file size was too large...this should have been up on Monday but I didn't figure it out until today
********************************
This video needs a bit of a back-story, or you will think Addy is a little raga-muffin!

Bruce and I were both coming down with colds/sinus infections over the weekend, and Chase went out to dinner with his Aunt Tiff and Grandma...while Addy took a late nap. She woke up full of herself (hence the HAIR!) and was enjoying the one-on-two time with just mommy and daddy. I fed her dinner and Bruce got her something to drink...all of her normal sippy-cups were in the dish-washer, so he filled another sippy cup up...not knowing that she'd take the lid off and dump it on herself. Oops!

Anyway, there was an extra one of Chase's 50 Thomas the train t-shirts laying around, so I just stripped Addy and put the too-big shirt on Addy so she could get back to dinner. I went back to whatever I was doing, and looked over at her...she was wearing the t-shirt like a tube top! Goofy girl! So, I thought it was funny and she wouldn't wear his shirt the right way, so I tied the arms up making her a little impromptu halter top...

On a side-note, I cannot belive my little lady-bug will be 2 next week! Know what else? Bruce and I are the worst parents alive...we haven't even planned a birthday party for her...so sad! :o( Chase had a crazy party back right before Christmas (overcompensating for his b-day being right before Christmas and knowing he was going to be sick for a while with his tonsilectomy!)...and Addy? nada... poor thing...I'm sure she'll be in therapy for years ;o) Who knows, maybe we'll end up over at chuck e cheese or just have the fam over for dinner and cake?
Ok, enough back story...this is why we are doomed...watch Addy look right at the camera (I don't want to spoil the surprise!) :

Random Friday Stuff

I think b/c it's cold out, and we aren't outside as much, I don't take any pictures b/c the lighting always seems to suck, and therefore, I have nothing to post about!! Shame shame!

Today, however, it is BEAUTIFUL outside...I spent my lunch-break sitting in the waiting room at the car wash...the truck needed a "bath" big-time...it was well worth it. The kids are up in Bluemont so I'm sure they've been outside all day long...I MADE Chase get out of his PJ's this time, for the record...he did wear his cammo rain boots though!

Here are a few pictures over the last few weeks of the kids adventures...baby-doll zip wire...courtesy of Chase and his boobie-traps...OK, the "praying baby doll" on there was my idea, but he loved it :o) She was a perfect fit b/c her hands are sewn clasped together!

We started soccer (I didn't realize I do this...looking through pictures it seems like I must have my hand on my hip at all times...weird! Gotta stop that one...). Chase is in the 2-3 year old class for the rest of the session so he can get used to things...he's doing really well. ADDY was super-excited for the first day of soccer, but we got there a bit early, and she was really fired up to play (I wish I would have gotten her on video!!) so by the time warm-up was done, and we needed to do circle time, she had a complete melt down and daddy had to take her out of the class. I think we'll take her back this weekend to see how she does...hopefully I'll get cute pictures of Chase in his uniform...IF he will cooperate!

Addy loving on her binky and blankie...she has gotten really bad...she MUST HAVE both at the same time or she starts whining...I try to keep her blankie upstairs (it's hand-made by a friend of the family...and we're on #2...so I'm trying to preserve it as long as possible!!) so Chase doesn't pester her by yanking it out of her hands, which always results in a tearful, emotional pity-party by miss priss

And here's Chase in his sexy spider-man boxers and red "cars" socks...NO he isn't potty-trained...I think he's too lazy/busy...he knows how to go on the potty, and he wants to wear big-boy pants, but he gets preoccupied and forgets he doesn't have a pull-up on...even when I ask 800 times in the span of an hour...I need to get a game-plan together...Chase has been in pull-ups for over a year now (in combination with diapers) b/c they are just SO much easier to wrestle him into them...and those puppies are EXPENSIVE! I'm going to get the Target brand this weekend, they're like half price, I'm sure they don't work as good, so hopefully he will be uncomfortable enough to "grow up kid!" <--man, I'm harsh! Also? He refuses to take pictures right now...that's why he's running away from me

Addy on the other hand is FINALLY loving having her picture taken...she is so funny...I asked her to smile, and she pulled out her binky just so I could take her picture...silly girl. Her foot looks HUGE in this picture...she has the smallest feet in the world...she still wears 6-12 month socks :o)

Meredith/Ava Inspired this post!

My mom got Chase the cutest pair of rain boots that he wears out at my parents house, when he's doing guy stuff with my dad, like riding the tractor, etc.

The last time he came home from a sleep-over at their house, he HAD to bring them home. Bruce HATES them, and so of course, Chase wants to wear them everywhere!

Here is a picture of my mom picking them up last Friday for a day up in Bluemont...it was FREEZING out so my mom had me keep them in their jammies...so naturally, Chase wanted to wear his fancy boots over-top of his footie jammies...it was quite the getup!

Every morning when I leave for work, Chase walks me to the door to say goodbye and very seriously tells me to watch out for mud puddles. Silly guy.

Our Super Patient!!

I can't believe it has been a week since my last post...we have certainly had our hands full!

I want to start off by saying Chase gets his "good patient" skills from his mama ;o) I also want to say that had I posted a few days ago, the title would have been "I Hate Snot, or Mommy, I Have Snot" b/c as soon as they yanked those nasty tonsils and adenoids out (literally...it started in the recovery room!), the nasal floodgates opened and we were bombarded with sinus-infection-y nasty snot for the first few days after surgery
Other than that :o)

Chase did SO great with his surgery...the Lansdowne Surgical Center was amazing...they were so good to us and THIS WAS BRILLIANT... Chase got to drive a power-wheels Jeep back to the OR with the anesthesiologist (who coincidentally did my epidural when I delivered Addy!) so he was totally relaxed and didn't freak out...he DID look a tad confused when he turned around after heading down the 2nd long hallway and saw Bruce and I taking a hard-right back to the waiting room...I don't know if that was a cooler experience for Chase or for us, but it sure made the send-off much easier...we were so amused.

Bruce and I were a mess while waiting for Chase to be done...we lost a very special family friend the weekend before, and all sorts of thoughts were whirling through our heads...that wasn't fun.

Chase was a super-star during his procedure, and when we were able to go back to recovery, there was a poor male-nurse standing holding our 42lb "baby" passed out on his shoulder. Daddy took over and got Chase comfy in the recliner chair...he woke up enough a few minutes later to have his first Popsicle...and he inhaled it!!! Next up was a cup of apple juice and then another Popsicle...over the next 20-30 minutes. We were relieved b/c it's important to get fluids into them asap, to help with the nausea and dehydration.

Here's Chase and Bruce...working on Popsicle #1...still pretty dazed (PS...Bruce, you need to stop deleting pictures you don't like off of the camera...you are such a girl!!!)

And here is the Chase-monster and a very relieved mommy, working on Popsicle #2 and watching Little Einsteins on his portable DVD player that we brought...that was pretty much a life-saver!

So, we were there at 6:30am, he went back to the OR at 7:30, and we were driving home in a random snow storm by 10am!!! 2 naps the first day and some frosties, cooked carrots and soft noodles...1 nap the next day, more frosties and sherbet...and then back to NO naps and trying to eat whatever he wanted by day 3.

He was prescribed Tylenol 3 (codeine) and antibiotics, and we are just doing the T-3 at bedtime and when he wakes up now...he hasn't really needed it during the day. We lucked out, he wasn't super-hyper on it like I was worried about, but sometimes he'll start up with the crazy talk and we're like oh, that must be the medicine talking ;o)

He has serious DRAGON breath today, and I don't think he's feeling so hot, he didn't want to eat much this AM for me...I'm assuming it's from his scabs falling off and healing on the back of his throat... :o(
All in all, we have been amazed at how quickly he has healed up...good job Chasey!!! I think the only really traumatic thing for Chase was the bruises he had on both wrists and one of his feet from them trying to get his IV in...apparently he was a hard stick! When we would undress him he'd look at them horrified...if that's all he has to be worried about, I'd say we did pretty good!
