I can't believe it has been a week since my last post...we have certainly had our hands full!
I want to start off by saying Chase gets his "good patient" skills from his mama ;o) I also want to say that had I posted a few days ago, the title would have been "I Hate Snot, or Mommy, I Have Snot" b/c as soon as they yanked those nasty tonsils and adenoids out (literally...it started in the recovery room!), the nasal floodgates opened and we were bombarded with sinus-infection-y nasty snot for the first few days after surgery
Other than that :o)
Chase did SO great with his surgery...the Lansdowne Surgical Center was amazing...they were so good to us and THIS WAS BRILLIANT... Chase got to drive a power-wheels Jeep back to the OR with the anesthesiologist (who coincidentally did my epidural when I delivered Addy!) so he was totally relaxed and didn't freak out...he DID look a tad confused when he turned around after heading down the 2nd long hallway and saw Bruce and I taking a hard-right back to the waiting room...I don't know if that was a cooler experience for Chase or for us, but it sure made the send-off much easier...we were so amused.
Bruce and I were a mess while waiting for Chase to be done...we lost a very special family friend the weekend before, and all sorts of thoughts were whirling through our heads...that wasn't fun.
Chase was a super-star during his procedure, and when we were able to go back to recovery, there was a poor male-nurse standing holding our 42lb "baby" passed out on his shoulder. Daddy took over and got Chase comfy in the recliner chair...he woke up enough a few minutes later to have his first Popsicle...and he inhaled it!!! Next up was a cup of apple juice and then another Popsicle...over the next 20-30 minutes. We were relieved b/c it's important to get fluids into them asap, to help with the nausea and dehydration.
Here's Chase and Bruce...working on Popsicle #1...still pretty dazed (PS...Bruce, you need to stop deleting pictures you don't like off of the camera...you are such a girl!!!)
So, we were there at 6:30am, he went back to the OR at 7:30, and we were driving home in a random snow storm by 10am!!! 2 naps the first day and some frosties, cooked carrots and soft noodles...1 nap the next day, more frosties and sherbet...and then back to NO naps and trying to eat whatever he wanted by day 3.
He was prescribed Tylenol 3 (codeine) and antibiotics, and we are just doing the T-3 at bedtime and when he wakes up now...he hasn't really needed it during the day. We lucked out, he wasn't super-hyper on it like I was worried about, but sometimes he'll start up with the crazy talk and we're like oh, that must be the medicine talking ;o)
He has serious DRAGON breath today, and I don't think he's feeling so hot, he didn't want to eat much this AM for me...I'm assuming it's from his scabs falling off and healing on the back of his throat... :o(
All in all, we have been amazed at how quickly he has healed up...good job Chasey!!! I think the only really traumatic thing for Chase was the bruises he had on both wrists and one of his feet from them trying to get his IV in...apparently he was a hard stick! When we would undress him he'd look at them horrified...if that's all he has to be worried about, I'd say we did pretty good!

I am so glad that Chase recovered so quickly. Sounds like it wasn't so bad, and I'm sure he'll be so much more healthy with those babies out of there :) I can only hope the same soon :) Thanks for the update!
Oh, I'm so happy to hear everything went well. What a trooper!
