If you are going to spew...spew into this!

Man! I couldn't find a picture of Garth in Wayne's World with his spew cup...but if you are anything like me or my sister Carol, you can remember all of the great lines from the 80's and 90's movies.

ANYWAY...We went to dinner last night at Maggianos for Bruce's birthday and at the end of dinner, Chase told me he was sick...and in no time, he was projectile vomiting all over the table! Thank goodness we had plenty of napkins and we were all done with desert! Poor guy :o(

Cut Me Mickey!

So the Bilek Family had it's first blood-shed Tuesday night. I can't believe we have made it this long...Chase has had his fair share of bumps and bruises, but Miss Addy was the first one to get a real humdinger of a boo-boo!

Addy is way more confident on her feet than Chase was (I think this has ALOT to do with the fact that she is 13 months and only 18.5lbs still! Chase was such a fatty (but he was so cute!) that he had a harder time getting the hang of walking.

Anyway, Addy likes to constantly carry 2 things around...In almost every picture I have of her, she has something in both hands.

The other night we were playing around, and Addy went around the corner to get something out of her toy box and BAM! she must have lost her balance and hit her forehead directly on the edge of the 3-sided fireplace. Luckily it wasn't on a corner, but on the front...I think the angle she hit it at was her saving grace...the impact seemed to Cauterize the wound so it hardly bled...It left a penny-sized gash right in her eyebrow. :o( I took her to the pediatricians office yesterday to have it looked at (since it hardly bled we just iced it down, put some Neosporin and a band-aid on it the night it happened...it wasn't really "stichable") they just put 2 steri-strips on it and a jaunty yellow band aid and declared her healed.

The doc says if we rub vitamin E on it every night once it heals, for about a month, she should have little to no scar left.

Here are some pictures...I'll take a picture without the band-aid on it tonight. I promise, she does smile! :o)

Bowling for Bean-Dip

(That is totally something my sister Carol would say)

Chase has been saying he wants to go bowling ever since he saw it on Sesame Street. We are always looking for something to do on the weekends so we went on Saturday and had fun!

We did bumper-bowling of course, and Chase wasn't the only one who benefitted from a little extra help!
We only bowled one game because Chase was more interested in eating snacks than bowling...but it was a fun way to kill a few hours!

An update on Chase's "grill"

We went for Chase's follow-up dentist appt this AM and everything looks great...he just has to go back in 6 months for his next cleaning. I think I'll make Addy's appt for her first cleaning at the same time, so they'll be on the same schedule.

Choo Choos, Cavities & More

Over the last few weeks we have been working on a few big-boy steps for Chase. He has some horrible habits that I am not proud of. Working outside of the home, I feel that I am not in total control of his daily routine, so things have gotten a bit out of hand...in my eyes (which is why I'm cracking the whip now)

The readers digest of what got us here is this: Chase has been co-sleeping* since Addy was born, he had to have a bottle** (of watered down juice) to fall asleep and put himself back to sleep, and it has been a huge mess.

A while back I noticed what looked like a chipped tooth in his mouth, and upon further investigation it was a cavity. We took Chase to the pediatric dentist a few weeks ago, and come to find out, he had 2 cavities and because he isn't crazy about having his mouth messed with, the dentist suggested IV sedation for the procedure. It was to take about an hour, and they were going to put sealants on his molars as well.

SO, that brings us to last Monday, 2/25...My little big boy had his last drink at about 1am, I got him out of bed and quickly into the truck at 7:45 and off we went...we were so lucky to get an early time slot of 8:30 for his procedure, as he wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything after 1am. This is no easy feat since Chase was so hooked to his bottle. We got him there, I took him back the Anesthesiologist gave him a shot in the arm and he was jello within a few minutes...they had me sit him in the chair and they did their thing...they brought me back about an hour later, had me pick up our little guy (who was still drugged up, passed out, with his eyes open...CREEPY!) and carry him into recovery. I rocked him for about 30 minutes or so and took some pictures of him on my camera-phone to prove to Bruce that he was OK, and then we were good to go. He slept for the next few hours and then was back to normal! We took a trip over to the park that afternoon and he has been great ever since.

We took him to NOVA Pediatric Dentistry http://www.novapediatricdentist.com/ and we love it there

The BIG BOY STEPS:

1) Chase hasn't had a bottle since the night before his procedure. He is only drinking milk and watered-down juice at meal-time and takes a sippy cup of water to bed. He is so repulsed by the thought of having to drink boring water, that he just whines for his bottle a few times and then gives up. :o)

2) The day before his procedure, Chase got a BIG present. A new bed! He is obsessed with Thomas the Train, so I thought that would be the perfect way to transition him into his own bed. It worked like a charm. Here is a picture of him getting his suprise...I'll have to take a picture of him passed out to post as well...it makes me so proud to see him sleeping on his own. It's great to not be stuck going to bed when he does, so we can spend some quality time together after the kids go down, do laundry, clean up, etc.

3) Last but not least, Chase had a nasty habit of watching TV to go to sleep. He watches the good-night show on Sprout and HAS to see the Thomas the Train show before he'll go to bed. Well, Mama-bear has cracked the whip, and when I put him to bed, I turn the lights off so it is pitch black, sing him Twinkle Twinkle little star a few times and he is out.

So, since I've written this post, I'll probably be doomed to a night of Chase not sleeping! :o)

*We are living with Bruce's parents right now, and they only have 3 bedrooms on the upper level...so, when Addy was born, Chase didn't really have anywhere to go besides in bed with Bruce's parents...he was giving us a really hard time about the crib at that time, and I wasn't really allowed to try the whole CIO thing. Ahem.

**He was never a binky baby and I wasn't allowed to CIO so he never was weaned properly.

A trip to the park

Chase had his dentist appointment today so I took the day off. The afternoon was beautiful so we made a trip over to the park. I loaded the kids in the wagon and headed over. No pictures of that b/c Chase is a camera nazi and wouldn't give it up!

Addy got to walk around for the first time there...she is such a tough little girl. She didn't mind the mulch at all (Chase hates it...he's more tolerant of it now but he used to just hold his hands up and look at you like, fix this please!) and I am conviced she is going to be the dare devil of the family...she loves the slide!

Figuring out the mulch

whoah!

My handsome guy! He was such a good patient!

Getting this party started...

So, it's been about oh...5 months since my last post! I need to learn how to focus!

Anyway...I have a few local friends who have decided to create blogs, and always a follower, I am going to give blogging a "real" shot! I have been reading blogs for about 3 years now, ever since I was pregnant with Chase.

My first blog ever?
http://www.damomma.com/ I followed it over from my favorite pregancy go-to website, pregnancy.org

Funniest blog out there?
In my opinion http://www.joyunexpected.com/ If you go down to her archives, the aerobic dance-offs are HILARIOUS!

Best writer?
I love Confessions of a Poineer Woman http://thepioneerwoman.com/ If you ever have some time to burn, read her Black Heels to Tractor Wheels love story about how she met her husband. She also has AMAZING recipes on her cooking site. Try her Apple Dumplings one day...they are so easy and TO DIE FOR.

That's all for now...the internet has been down here at the office for a few hours so I have to get back to work!
